Carers
As investors in people, we are fully committed to ensuring that all of our staff receive comprehensive training to carry out their specified job role within the company to the highest standards attainable. All training is delivered by an in house training team of Trainers who have a wealth of experience within the care sector and will ensure that the delivery of both mandatory and specialist courses meets and exceeds the standards of the sector. Whilst with NISI the staff are given the opportunity to further develop their training and work towards an NVQ Level 2/3 qualification.

Mandatory trainings that all workers receive when they are recruited as Care staff for NISI are as follows:
•Company Overview and Induction
•Communication
•Challenging behaviour
•Your role within the business
•Common Induction Standards
•Health and Safety
•Fire Prevention
•First Aid and Life Support
•Infection Control
•Dementia awareness
•Dementia care
•Diabetes care
•Equality and diversity
•Mental capacity Act(2005)
•Deprivation of Liberty
•Food Hygiene
•Safeguarding
•Moving and Handling
•Medication Management

Once our staff has undergone their induction training they are given a workbook which keeps a record of all the training they have completed and also is evidence that they have successfully understood all the topics covered during their training. After all these are completed they are awarded a training certificate, which are added to their portfolio as a part of their ongoing career development and achievements.

Currently 92% of NISI care workers hold an NVQ Level 2 in health and social care; the remainder are currently training towards this qualification. 34% of our care staff are working towards NVQ Level 3 qualification. If we are successful in obtaining a position on the Northamptonshire personal support and care services framework, we intend to liaise with the local college and have in place the training opportunity to gain qualifications for the staff we recruit in that location. These trainings are renewed on a 12 monthly basis. NISI intends to mirror its good practice in the Northamptonshire area and the registered manager in this branch has the experience and expertise to ensure that there is no lapse in any employee’s training.
